He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, with an additional residency year at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio.

Since entering practice in 2000, Dr. Stickney has provided general orthopedic care across multiple Ohio and Indiana communities, including over two decades with St. Vincent Medical Group in Cleveland, four years with the Kettering Physician Network in Hamilton, Ohio, and two years with the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Fairlawn, Ohio. His patient panel has spanned the full breadth of musculoskeletal care - bone and soft-tissue injuries of the shoulder, knee, hip, and hand; joint replacement surgery; arthroscopic procedures; and a substantial workers' compensation and occupational injury practice.

He has been board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 2002 and is a long-standing member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. From 2012 to 2015 he served as Co-Medical Director of 1-888 OhioComp, an Ohio workers' compensation organization, which gave him concentrated experience in managing complex work-related musculoskeletal injuries, return-to-work coordination, and the medical-legal documentation that workers' comp care requires. He has also served as a team physician for Hiram College and for the Parma City Schools football program.

Dr. Stickney joined Aptiva Health in 2026 to provide orthopedic care to patients in Northern Kentucky and Indianapolis - two markets where Aptiva has expanded its physical footprint and where patients now have direct local access to a board-certified, experienced orthopedic surgeon for shoulder, knee, hip, and hand conditions.

Dr. Stickney's Work Comp Expertise

Workers’ Compensation & Occupational Injury Care

Many orthopedic practices avoid workers' compensation patients - the paperwork is heavier, the medical-legal documentation requirements are stricter, and the care coordination spans the patient, the employer, the case manager, and the carrier. Dr. Stickney built a substantial portion of his career around this kind of care. From 2012 to 2015 he served as Co-Medical Director of 1-888 OhioComp, an Ohio workers' compensation organization, where he managed and consulted on hundreds of work-related musculoskeletal injuries from initial evaluation through return-to-work clearance.

Patients with work-related injuries get the same evaluation, imaging, and surgical options as any other Aptiva patient - but with the added benefit of a surgeon who understands the workers' compensation system, communicates clearly with case managers and employers, and provides the precise documentation that workers' comp claims require. Aptiva Health accepts workers' compensation, auto accident coverage (PIP and MedPay), and most commercial insurance plans.
